About Discovery Lab

Located on the first floor of the Undergraduate Science Lab Building (USLB), the Discovery Lab has over 6,000 square feet of space for research, prototyping, and experimentation. Each space contains state-of-the-art instruments and equipment essential for transforming conceptional ideas into tangible data-backed results.

Our Mission

• Serve as a university hub where student-led collaborative research, prototyping, and experimentation thrive.
• Offer structured onboarding and progressive credentialing pathways to deepen technical, quantitative, and professional skills for undergraduates, graduate students, faculty/staff, and others of the Virginia Tech community.
• Forge partnerships with industry, enabling students to tackle real-world problems and gain career-ready experiences.
• Foster cross-disciplinary engagement, sparking innovative solutions to complex scientific and global societal challenges.
